Description:

  • summary: The wave energy converter (WEC) yield has been simulated using HOMERE and ANEMOC-2 wave data for the zone Atlantic, Channel and North Sea and for the Mediterranean Sea respectively. The power curve of three floating WEC device taken from (Babarit et al. 2012) have been used. The maps provide the ressource, the annual energy prodution and the capture width ratio (CWR) from the shore to 50 km offshore.
  • history: For the French western and northern coast, all the information comes from the processing of Homere database (Boudière et al. 2013) delivered by Ifremer (Institut Français de Recherche pour l'Exploitation de la Mer/French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea). Homere is a 19-year (1994-2012) sea-state hindcast (Boudière et al. 2013) with hourly outputs and spatial resolution ranging from 9 km offshore to about 200 m near the coast and shallow areas. Sea state information for the Mediterranean Sea comes from the processing of ANEMOC-2 database (Tiberi-Wadier et al. 2016) . The ANEMOC-2 is a 31-year (1979-2010) sea-state hindcast with hourly outputs . The computation meshes are refined to reach 800–1000 m along the French coast. These databases were identified as ones of the most appropriate for the production of MRE resource information along the French Coasts at relevant time and spatial scales. The power matrices from (Babarit et al., 2012) for three floating technologies have been used: the floating oscillating water column (F-OWC), the floating two-body heaving converter (2HB), and the floating three-body oscillating flap device (3OF).
