summary: The wind data are taken from the ANEMOC-2 database (Tiberi-Wadier et al. 2016) for the Mediterranean Sea and from the HOMERE dataset (Boudière et al. 2013) for the zone Atlantic, Channel and North Sea. It includes the two components of the wind speed at 10 meters. These two datasets have been evaluated from numerical calculation (hindcast) and cover a period of several decades. The maps provide maximum and average values of the most relevant wave parameters for the whole year and the four seasons from the shore to 50 km offshore.
history: For the French western and northern coast, all the information comes from the processing of Homere database (Boudière et al. 2013) delivered by Ifremer (Institut Français de Recherche pour l'Exploitation de la Mer/French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea). Homere is a 19-year (1994-2012) sea-state hindcast (Boudière et al. 2013) with hourly outputs and spatial resolution ranging from 9 km offshore to about 200 m near the coast and shallow areas. Sea state information for the Mediterranean Sea comes from the processing of ANEMOC-2 database (Tiberi-Wadier et al. 2016) . The ANEMOC-2 is a 31-year (1979-2010) sea-state hindcast with hourly outputs . The computation meshes are refined to reach 800–1000 m along the French coast. These databases were identified as ones of the most appropriate for the production of MRE resource information along the French Coasts at relevant time and spatial scales.
